Bonnie Brae Ice Cream

The Story
Bonnie Brae has made its own ice cream in the same corner shop for decades. The board runs long, the line runs longer, and locals will argue flavors with you at the door.

While everyone talks about Little Man, I’m surprised more people don’t mention Bonnie Brae. It is my absolute favorite ice cream spot in Denver! It always hits the spot and I never get tired of it. It has that classic neighborhood feel where there is usually a line outside, but it is always worth the wait. 🍦The Order: Salted Oreo & Price The Salted Oreo is my go-to because it has the perfect sweet and salty balance I love. If I’m not getting that, I’m getting the Lemon Custard. Both are incredible. For a double scoop in a cup, it cost about $8–$9. While they have great vegan and dairy-free options, the Salted Oreo I get is their traditional dairy version. 🍨 Homemade: One of the reasons it tastes so good is that they make their own ice cream and cones right on-site! You can really taste the difference in the freshness of the scoops and the crunch of the waffle cones. 🙂 Customer Service: Even when it’s packed inside with people ready to order, the staff is very quick and efficient. The customer service is great, which is impressive considering how busy they usually are. 🚘 Parking: A huge plus for this location is the free street parking, making it an easy and accessible stop compared to other busy areas. ✅ Overall Experience: I managed to time my last visit earlier in the day to beat the line, but even when it's busy, the quality is top-tier. I would highly recommend this place to anyone! It’s a local gem that truly deserves more hype.

Cute ice cream spot in Denver. There’s more seating outside than there is inside so be prepared if it’s cold out. The ice cream was pretty good. Not someplace I would rush back to. The service was friendly.

Incredible homemade flavors and nostalgic vibe, but be prepared to wait! This is an absolute staple in Denver for a reason. The moment you walk in, the retro 1950s look takes you back in time. I ordered a double scoop of the Triple Death Chocolate and Cappuccino Crunch in a fresh waffle cone. The ice cream is incredibly rich, creamy, and clearly made from scratch on-site. They also have an impressive selection of dairy-free options which my friend really appreciated. The only downside is the popularity. We visited on a warm Friday evening, and the line wrapped all the way around the building. While the staff worked super hard and kept the line moving, it still took about 20 minutes to get our scoops, and finding a spot to sit inside was impossible.Overall, the ice cream itself easily deserves 5 stars. I will definitely be back, but I'll probably try to visit during an afternoon weekday to beat the crazy crowd!
