The Story

The sweet scent of homemade waffle cones beckoned from Brown Cow Creamery, a cozy step back in time on Ridge Road. Inside, small-batch scoops made from local cream promised the freshest taste of summer in every delightful bite. This charming parlor truly felt like the heart of Mt Airy, where every treat was a little piece of honest Americana.

Quality over quantity when it comes to favors, four favors later, I am a fan! A relaxing area to consume your goods with chairs, benches, and tables. Love the flag benches! Other options to purchase such as meats, eggs, butter, cheese, local organic fruits and veggies, baked goods, jams, sauces, and local products. Didn't purchase the legendary chocolate milk, but next time I will bring a cooler. Maryland's Best Ice Cream Trail...

I stopped here on a fluke as I was driving down the road mid july. The ice cream flavors are limited, the staff friendly enough, the price was ok. They had some other farm type of items like jams hot sauce and vegetables. Nothing really stood out to me for me to stop by here again. It was a busier day when I came, parking can be limited if there's a decent amount of people. Pet and kid friendly location.

Cute little place to visit and get ice cream. They do have some creative ice cream flavors. Although there were no calves out front, my kid did have fun on the playground. A portable toilet is available on-site, along with a hand-washing station located outside. Response to owner (6/23): I'm sorry to hear about the family health emergency! The lack of cows won't keep us away from recommending the creamery! We also purchased cheese to take home, and it was delicious!

Nice ice cream: yes, the texture is a little bit icy, but only in the way that you would expect a natural "homemade" ice cream to be - but it's not watery or anything, quite the opposite, very rich. Milkshake was a bit thin for my taste, but we just dumped some more ice cream into it (since the scoops were huge) and that worked surprisingly well. Perfectly friendly staff, too.
