Beautiful little creamery tucked into old town Elkhorn. It’s always incredibly busy, but absolutely worth the wait. They rotate flavors. My all time favorite is cookies and cream. They do have gluten free options as well as GF waffles.

Coneflower Creamery has become one of those places that feels almost essential to Omaha and Nebraska culture at this point. If family or friends are visiting from out of town, this is one of the places I would seriously consider taking them because it captures something both creative and distinctly Midwestern at the same time. The sweet corn ice cream alone deserves the reputation it gets. I know “sweet corn ice cream” sounds bizarre to people who have never tried it, but it is honestly one of the most unique and memorable flavors I have ever had. It somehow tastes exactly like Nebraska summer in ice cream form. The sweetness is balanced perfectly, the texture is incredibly smooth, and it avoids tasting gimmicky. It is the kind of flavor that makes you stop after the first bite and think, “Okay… now I understand why everyone talks about this place.” What keeps us coming back, though, is the creativity and variety of the menu. Coneflower does not just make standard ice cream flavors—they make flavors that feel crafted. Basil white chocolate chip was one of the biggest surprises for me. I normally would never think basil belongs in ice cream, but somehow it works beautifully. The herbal freshness mixed with the sweetness and white chocolate creates something genuinely special. Their lavender flavors are also excellent and come in different variations throughout the year. They manage to make floral flavors taste elegant instead of overpowering or perfume-like, which is hard to do. My wife absolutely loves the butter brickle, and honestly it is probably one of the best versions of that flavor I have ever tasted. Rich, buttery, crunchy, and deeply nostalgic. It feels like something your grandparents would have loved, except elevated with much better ingredients and craftsmanship. Another thing I appreciate is how seasonal many of the flavors are. You can tell they put real thought into rotating flavors and using ingredients intentionally rather than just throwing random combinations together for marketing. Every visit feels like there is something new worth trying. The quality of the ice cream itself is also outstanding. The texture is incredibly creamy and dense without feeling heavy. You can immediately tell this is not mass-produced grocery store ice cream. Everything tastes fresh, balanced, and carefully developed. The atmosphere of the shop deserves mention too. It has an old-school ice cream parlor feel while still feeling modern and clean. There is something comforting and nostalgic about the environment. The workers always seem organized and friendly, and the whole place has a polished atmosphere that honestly reminds me a little bit of Chick-fil-A—not because it is identical, but because it feels consistently well-run, welcoming, and intentional. Yes, it is a little pricey compared to basic ice cream places, but for us it has absolutely been worth it. This is not “grab a cheap cone and leave” ice cream. It is a destination dessert place. The quality, originality, atmosphere, and consistency justify the price. At this point, I honestly do not feel much need to look elsewhere for ice cream in Omaha. Coneflower has pretty much set the standard for us. If you are visiting Nebraska, especially Omaha, this place deserves to be on your list.

We stopped in here for some dessert after eating lunch next door. The place was clean and decorated cutely. The girl scooping the ice cream was pleasant and patiently gave samples to use. I had one scoop of the raspberry sorbet. I do wish they offered regular cake cones but they only have sugar and waffle cones.

How can you go wrong with a creamery that makes their ice cream and waffle cones? Every flavor was delicious and the waffle cone was pretty good as well. Pricey but yummy.
