This very well might be the best ice cream made in Iowa. (And don't be fooled by all the places that have "ice cream" on their sign or in their name, but really what they serve is the far inferior "soft serve".) We had been wanting to try this place in Ely for quite some time but kept coming through town after hours. This time though, we were there midday and so we were able to try four different flavors of their ice cream. We tried the pineapple upside down cake, cookies and cream, peach, and strawberry cheesecake. All were very creamy and had great flavor. The only thing we were bummed about was missing their sweet corn ice cream, but we'll be back and hope to catch it then. (We've had one at the Iowa State Fair and moved it.) (Word to the wise - think about how you want your flavors stacked. I prefer the sweeter flavor on the bottom, otherwise if it is on top it will overpower the bottom (less sweet) flavor and make that bottom flavor taste a bit lackluster, when it's actually quite good.) Additionally, the staff was great, the serving size is generous, and they have other products, such as milk and honey in their store. Excellent ice cream!. We'll definitely be back! (You can also find Dan and Debbie's at other locations, like Sweet Mercantile in Czech Town in Cedar Rapids.)

I'll get straight to the point--this is the best ice cream I have ever had in my entire life, even better than any gelato shop we've hit up in Europe or fancy pop-ups in major cities. My husband is on an extended travel assignment in the greater Cedar Rapids area and we randomly decided to grab dessert here after dinner one night. It's a short, but lovely drive from CR and the town itself is very cute. The ice cream though? Insane. I never want to find out the nutrition facts about this ice cream. 10 out of 10.

Ordered, for delivery, mint chocolate chip with other items. The list of ingredients (see photo) made me bummed. Yuk. Minus a star. The website didn’t have this label list or I’d not have bought it. Gonna stick to Natural Grocer, Coop, Aldi, Amazon for primary as we prefer organic, and limit purchases from D&D. Huge disappointment /\ update First delivery order arrived perfect. The delivery team made an effort to surround the ice cream with ice packs. Thoughtful placement of everything in the electric cooler and ice packed one. For fun made a print and laminated the Dan and Debbie Logo for the cooler. I’m hooked. Already made another order for two weeks from now. What I like about this process and the products x3 is the source is nearby and Iowa. The flavor boost is for this reason. Shipping impacts flavor and nutrition. 2- variety available plus season favorites like Cider. 3- delivery included. If you’re considering this service but think it expensive, think again. Compared to store pricing most everything is comparable or lower. A few items are more but consider the process of raising cows for example plus into something like cheese, then shipped to the door; and flavor plus nutrition is better. I compared pricing to where I typically shop and types of items like organic that I buy. Though not all here are organic the quality is comparable. I’m hooked. Already made my next order. And after our visit this is an ice cream store on the top of our list to visit when we need cone. The rest of the review under update is from our visit to the creamery. My only regret is I didn’t think to look for a milk man sooner. The diverse food options are so welcome. I’m excited to try more products. So far the whole milk is a score and vanilla ice cream made into a Sunday with organic chocolate sauce, organic banana, garden strawberries, and Hammond black walnut nuts bits is a huge win. We also bought stuff like Greek yogurt, butter, different cheese, organic corn meal, etc. Looking forward to Mint Chocolate Chip next order plus some other options, like apples and greens grown year round Keep up the great job 🏆 Update 👆🏼 Oh my goodness, WOW. Some of the best ice cream. Having tried flavor is globally and including vintage soda shops have a qualified palette with experience to know the best compared to the rest. How we found D&D’s? Upon finishing a hike at the lake we’re searching for an ice cream store. When I spotted Dan and Debbie’s on google maps giggled. My friend laughed. Shared this is the place I wanted to visit because I’d recently looked into if there is a local milk delivery service in Cedar Rapids. Found D&D’s but had not checked it out in person yet. But read about them, the story, and browsed the online store. Even marked my desk calendar for the delivery dates. This was about a month ago. Visiting was on my list of to do’s. Meanwhile, had already cleaned out my cooler and been preparing for launching my first delivery to be prepared following visiting in person. This location did not disappoint. Though impromptu, it was fun stopping by with a beat friend. His review would make this double stars to ten. We enjoyed the flavors very much. For me, the dense creaminess of the ice cream was unlike any I’d had. To include my visit to Ben and Jerry’s in VT. Chowing a fresh packed Chunky Monkey. That was as fresh as this. D&D’s is a bit smoother in texture and a delight, for me, being so close. Another feature that I found upon exploring the shelves is every product is manufactured and sold by small Iowa companies. One surprised me as it used bleached flour, but for the most part all the products demonstrate how local brands offer quality projects. For me, it is worth the extra cost, though it is not always more, to support local ingredients and business. For a $50 delivery there’s not charge. Wow. And, the products available, to include hand packed wholesome ice cream is exciting, to me. Both worth the drive and delivery. Thank you for the hospitality and delicious treat for my friend, and me

This place is always welcoming and kind. They not only have cold air-conditioning, but the best ice Cream for the hot summer days. They also have some other goods for non ice cream lovers. Their cheese is also the bomb.
