  As someone from the dairy state I’ve had a lot of ice cream, but I was looking for something that was a staple of Pittsburgh. We tried Millie’s and it was ok, but off (and the flavor I chose was the better selection from the ones our family picked). I’m happy to say Dave & Andy’s redeemed our ice cream experience in Pittsburgh. Peanut Butter Swirl was the flavor I chose and it did not disappoint. Although not a ton of seating, we were able to grab a table and the bench. I also was glad to find it was open late as being on vacation it’s nice to find someplace to go after a later dinner post tourism. Highly recommend.

  I scream, you scream, we all scream for Dave & Andy’s Ice Cream!! This iconic ice cream parlor has been scooping joy in Oakland since 1983 with over 200+ flavors made fresh in-house—and yes, they hand-roll those heavenly waffle cones right on site! After a brief closure last year, they’re back and just as nostalgic as ever. The moment you walk in, you’re hit with the delicious smell of fresh waffle cones being made. Each week, they feature 24 rotating flavors—core classics plus seasonal specials—so there’s always something new to try. Grab a cone, cup, sundae, or milkshake—or take home a pint or two! Indoor and outdoor seating lets you soak in the old-school charm, with their classic benches adding to the vibe. I had a birthday cake ice cream in a fresh handmade waffle cone and it totally hit the spot. Also tried a mint chocolate chip milkshake topped with whipped cream and a cherry —pure nostalgia! And for the ultimate sweet treat, don’t miss their dirt dessert cup: cookies & cream with chocolate pudding, Oreo crumbles, and gummy worms. A fan-favorite, especially with the younger crowd! Whether it’s your first visit or your hundredth, Dave & Andy’s is the kind of place that always feels like summer.

  Honestly it was just fine. I had heard a lot of online chatter about this place reopening so I was excited to try it. The ice cream shop itself is cute with couple of tables inside and also a couple of benches on the outside. On a nice cold evening like the day I went, it's honestly better to just sit outside and enjoy your ice cream. I got the chocolate and Cherry and the cookie dough and the pricing was actually quite good for two scoops. The ice cream itself was not anything special. Like it was good don't get me wrong but it was not extraordinary. In fact the cookie dough one felt quite subdued and also a little bit more icy than I like it.
