  I'm a long-time resident of port Townsend. Don's has always been way overpriced. Before Amazon and other online stores were a thing, your only choice was to go to Safeway or QFC or drive to go to Kitsap. There have been different people who have owned Don's or manage the store. And always has a weird vibe to it. I don't know what that is but it's sort of like don't be too friendly to the customers. And even the shoppers are not friendly when you're in there it's just kind of a negative vibe I think. Although there is a person that I know that works there and she is always friendly not overly friendly but friendly and kind and. But I guess the summer help of the teen kids, or I should say young adults, they're just there to earn their minimum wage which I'm sure is what they're paid. Sometimes you have to ask two or three people because no one knows what you're asking. But I would say they are very expensive. But they have to pay their rent and utilities because they're right on Water Street and every business on Water Street has very high rent to pay. Or else they go under. I think the store really died when they lost or got rid of their little luncheonette. It was the town hangout. People who work nearby would go there and it was just a fun place to go. Sometimes the waitresses were kind and happy and other times they were just mean and cold and so was the food sometimes cold. But I used to like to go to the little luncheonette because they had good pie. But now the counters and the two Booth they just sit there like a memory of yesteryear why don't they get rid of it if they're not going to have the luncheonette and make more room for merchandise? It really is kind of a hit and miss. I have found cards they're pretty cheap sometimes they're a dollar sometimes there are two for $1 but now that we have a Dollar Tree I go there and buy cards. And they have these great coffee mugs that I used to like they were $15 But I don't know they're just expensive and what are you going to do he goes somewhere else and buy it online. And people might complain oh you should support the local businesses. This is what I have to say. If you're not going to be customer oriented and treat customers well and you're going to be rude to them and your prices are going to drive everyone away so that online prices are a lot cheaper and you get it delivered to your house why should I make the effort to go into town and buy something from your business to get treated like crap? And in a small town that news travels far.

  I went there to look around and I found 2 good pens I need for my sketchbook! They have so many art supplies to choose from and I really enjoyed being there.

  Hit or miss The soul is gone with the soda fountain closed permanently. I still get my prescriptions here instead of Safeway, but one time your welcomed the next two you feel like you're interrupting something. Smart ass replies like "is free good enough" when asking how much a prescription is going to be does absolutely nothing for retaining me as a loyal customer. An example being, having sourced my box full of medications from Swedish First Hill pharmacy after a major surgery than saving my business for in town. Which is what I would normally have done... Believing that this isn't a mega corp chain is the only reason I come here.

  Our sincerest THANKS to Pharmacist Don for helping us out of a tough situation when the ferries were cancelled from Port Townsend and we were stuck overnight with my husband's cardiac medications at Fort Casey on Whidbey Island. Don went "above and beyond" with regard to customer service and remedied the situation. It was SUCH a great relief, and he provided EXCELLENT caring and customer service. It was so much appreciated! Our heartfelt thanks go out to him and his business.
