Eckels has been on East Main since the year after the war, and it still churns small batches out back. Order a cherry smash and take it to one of the tiny tables where three generations of Cumberland County kids have spilled theirs.

It's a wonderful, iconic place, with great food, friendly service and an awesome vintage decor inside! I even tried the famous "Girl, Interrupted" sundae, which was delicious!

We ate around the corner and the wife wanted ice cream, so we stopped here. As soon as you walk in you feel like you went back in time. Hershey's ice cream scouped into bowls or cones. Had great service.

I really wanted to visit this ice cream shop because it was a filming location for Girl, Interrupted but it wasn’t open. Really disappointed, me and my fiancé planned this trip a month ago and we based our visit on the hours of operation listed on the website. It said they opened at 11:30am on a Friday but when we arrived it was closed. We waited for a half hour and nothing. Tried to call and just got send to voicemail. I understand that staffing issues create odd hours but please update the real hours of operation so people who are traveling can actually visit!
