The Story

Eddie's still churns its own ice cream in the back and whips real cream to order — no cash-register modernity, no substitutions. The stained glass, the swivel stools and the marble counter in Forest Hills look exactly the way they did when the trolley ran past the door.

Great vintage vibes, average ice cream. Finding an old-school gem like this in NYC was such a pleasant surprise! The interior and atmosphere totally transport you back in time and bring out your inner child or 70-80‘. Honestly, the ice cream wasn't that great, but the whole experience was still worth it. The theater right in front of the shop also gives off serious "back to the past" vibes. It’s a fun, nostalgic spot to check out at least once if you're looking for a unique, touristy experience!

First time at Eddie’s. What an adorable blast from the past. We were able to sit at the counter and watch the servers in action, scooping ice cream and topping it off with pillowy mounds of whipped cream. We ordered vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream with hot fudge and walnuts. We paid $21 for both. Don't forget to bring cash!

This place is cash only. Of course, I don’t carry cash because its totally unnecessary these days. And I’m not paying a high surcharge to use their silly ATM machine. Those machines are just another source of revenue for them, but it’s also a penalty on us for not bringing cash. It even has a sign that says “No Receipt”. The menu is good, the ice cream is delicious, and I love these kind of places. But there are plenty of other ice cream places nearby that take modern forms of payment.
