The Story
Elliston Place has been pouring since 1939, and the jukebox, the pink booths and the chrome spinners moved wholesale into the shop's newer digs a few doors down. Order the chocolate shake — it arrives with the extra in the metal tin, the way a soda jerk was taught to serve it.

We had pancakes with bacon and the "meat and three" with fried chicken, mashed potatoes, hush puppies, fries, and a biscuit. The pancakes were thick (in a positive way), fluffy, and sweet. Good maple syrup. The bacon was cooked perfectly. The fried chicken seemed like it had been done for a while, but it was well done anyway. It was probably the most moist fried chicken I've had, and the breading was tasty and mostly stayed on the meat. The mashed potatoes had a pretty good flavor, but the whole top had film as if they sat for hours under a heat lamp. The fries were not good. Hush puppies were pretty good, but one had picked up an old oil flavor. The biscuit was fluffy and tasted homemade. Not all perfect, but it all worked well enough. I left satisfied. They have a free lot during open hours (paid outside of those hours), and they validate 1 hour of parking in the lot at 2103 Elliston Pl. Our server was attentive and prompt.

Friendly cafe vibe in the city. Stopped in with a couple friends before ending our girl’s weekend. Good size servings! Burgers were delicious, crinkle cut fries were a perfect balance of crispy and fluffy, onion rings were the real deal (not ring shaped minced onions) and the fried green tomatoes were delish! But the star of the show was the milkshake. Our waitress (who was amazing!) brought them out in the metal cup they are mixed in and poured/scooped them into our milkshake glasses at the table. There was enough for 2 full glasses. 10/10 recommend!

This place gives everything you want from an old fashioned diner. The vibe was very old fashioned but up to date. The food was delicious and decently seasoned. BEST MASHED SWEET POTATOES I HAVE EVER TASTED! We didn’t get a chance to try any ice cream pie but we will defiantly be back. Service was great and food came out in a timely manner.
