I was so excited to hear that the Freedom 250 truck was going to stop in Fort Smith, and equally disappointed that the Fort Smith Museum of History reneged on hosting this incredible display. The museum official that said this display "did not align with the standards and expectations we set for museum-sponsored programming", could not have toured this fantastic display of 250+ years of American history. It was a factual, all-inclusive, and diverse display of this great country's history and the great people from ALL aspects of life that contributed to its founding, growth, and future. What sh

I love the Fort Smith Museum of History! They have friendly staff and an amazing collection of local Native American artifacts. They also have lots of local history and stories resold, such as Belle Starr, Judge Parker "The Hanging Judge", and US Marshall Bass Reeves. There is a wide variety of antique collectibles and local treasures plus awe inspiring artwork from local artist John Bell Jr. It is definitely a great place to learn about local history and again the staff is so friendly and very knowledgeable! I highly recommend checking it out for yourself. I give it 5 stars and 2 thumbs up!

I think this tour of the museum in Fort Smith is my favorite. I say this because I really enjoy seeing all of the radio station equipment since I worked at a radio station back in the 90s in California There is so much to see from the turn of the century, and all the innovations throughout the years I take my family when they come into town. I took my daughters for Mother’s Day event. They had and wait for us arrived here. My husband and I went on our first tour in Fort Smith to this museum. It’s a must see place for a glimpse into history. Which my husband and I love so very much!!

A hidden gem of a museum! Friendly staff, was not crowded at all when I visited (albeit in March). They have a cell phone tour that you can use for more information on certain exhibits. Although mostly geared towards adults, there are also some fun exhibits for the kids as well. They can even make you a 1920s era soda upon request. Admission was very reasonable. Parking is easy to find nearby.
