The Story

The scent of cherry phosphates and well-worn vinyl records fills the air, inviting you to step back to simpler times. Gleaming chrome and checkered floors set a cheerful scene, perfect for savoring a frosty malt or a slice of homemade pie. It’s a true Main Street gem, where every sweet bite feels like a warm hug from yesteryear.

Wow! Definitely do not skip by this place! We were traveling Route 66 this summer during the Centennial year. We had wanted to check out this old historic building. Located in an old model T assembly plant. You will never imagine all the creativity that lies inside! Lovingly restored by the owners, who were on-site and super helpful about the history & telling us about the restoration project. So many incredibly detailed projects (and yes, definitely do not miss the restrooms. And all of our traveling full-time the last six years, we have never seen anything like them!).You can just tell the thought and detail that went into the creation of EVERY display. It was extra cool to get to see the model Ts that were on the shop floor also! They have some really unique souvenirs and T-shirts. Not like all of the cookie cutter things we saw everywhere else on the Mother Road. Reasonable prices too! Most definitely worth a stop!! BY FAR, ONE OF OUR FAVORITE STOPS ON THE ROUTE! P.S. if the owners are there - be sure to chat with them. A wealth of knowledge about this building!

Visited on Aug 7 afternoon, Got recommended by the grandma from Bristow train depot, she said I must go, it's great. And indeed! It is fascinating! The Owner Michael is really welcoming and sharing. He showed us the famous bathroom he designed. Stories behind items, where they were from and how he convert them. We talked about the milk truck he owns and cars in his family and so on. Also shared my thoughts on bring my own car to US and travel the route 66 again. The more you look into the details, the more you find it interesting and wish you can enjoy this wonderful place! p.s. we're going to springfield to see the event!

Such a fun and unique stop on Route 66! The owners were incredibly nice and accommodating, and they took the time to tell us all about the shop and its history. Definitely take a few minutes to hear about it if you get the chance! They really made my wife, 1 Year old daughter, and I feel at home. The parking is spacious and easy to access, and I loved seeing how creatively old vehicle parts and materials from the buildings were repurposed throughout the property. There’s so much character and so many interesting things to look at. A must-stop for any Route 66 fan!

Gasoline Alley is an absolute must-visit! As a person with a disability, I found it to be very accessible, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The bathrooms are unlike anything I've ever seen and are worth checking out on their own. The store is full of unique souvenirs, including hubcap and air-filter lamps, incredible miniatures, and a great selection of T-shirts. The highlight of our visit was the owners. They were incredibly kind and took the time to give every customer a tour, sharing the history and stories behind everything—from the floors to the vintage cars displayed in the windows. Every piece has a story, and their passion for preserving and sharing that history really shines through. If you're looking for a place that's unique, welcoming, and full of fascinating history, Gasoline Alley is a stop you won't regret. I highly recommend visiting!
