  This was our first time at a Happy Joes and it won't be our last. All the staff members seemed to enjoy their job and were very friendly. Ordering was easy as you order at the counter. Food took a little longer but it was busy. Kids were occupied with the games and some notebooks they brought. Our appetizer we ordered was the garlic cheese bread. So cheesy and good. We got this first. We got the pan style pizza. The crust was pretty thick, very close to a deep dish pizza. Texture was good, sauce was perfect, not acidic line some pizza places and the cheese blend was amazing. We will be trying the original crust next time. We couldn't skip dessert! We were tempted by the barn burner, but didn't think our family of 4 could do it. We settled for the 5 spoon oreo sundae. It was fantastic and a great choice. They used real Oreos in the ice cream. We will be back but at a different location as we were passing through.

  We brought a group of boys here after a baseball game and had the best time! Boys had fun playing games, food came out fast and was great pizza! Ice cream to finish it off was perfect!

  Cute classic decor, a few arcade games for kids, love the window with the step so kids can watch the pizzas being made. Pizza was good too. Lots of meat on the meatlovers and even the crust was good.

  My family and I have been to a couple of Happy Joe’s in Dubuque, but it had been several years since our last visit. While we were driving through the area, we decided to stop for lunch. Of the locations we’ve been to, this is our favorite. We like the atmosphere and the general look, like a bit of a carnival feel. It’s fun, and frequently during your meal, you’ll hear a honking noise, which we’ve come to learn means someone is celebrating a birthday. And often, the other patrons join in signing a round of “Happy Birthday!” The pizza is good with plenty of toppings. We ordered the lunch special, which includes a personal pizza and a soft drink, for $8. The great benefit is that you can order the pizza any way you want, so load up! Service is fairly quick, and the lunch crowd didn’t seem overly packed, so we had plenty of space to sit. The parking lot is large, so you shouldn’t have a problem finding a space. They ask for cash, but I do believe they accept credit and debit cards. If I heard right, it’s an extra $1 to pay that way. We’ve also had sandwiches there in the past, and some of those show up as a daily lunch special, which features something different Monday through Friday. At the front of the restaurant, they also offer some ice cream and candy in case you need to fill in the space around your pizza after dinner. If you’ve never been to a Happy Joe’s, I’d suggest checking it out. And if you’re in Dubuque, see if you can stop by this location.
