The Story
Built for the Manhattan Project's instant town, the Jefferson circle still holds its drug store and its fountain. It's one of the few places you can eat a grilled cheese inside a piece of 1940s government planning.

What a hidden treat nestled in the mountains of Oak Ridge, Tennessee! I had been working in Oak Ridge but living in Knoxville but never came into the town much. Now that my family has a house in Oak Ridge, I figured I'd explore out a bit and found this beauty off Jefferson Circle area near the Turnpike. I spent maybe $30-ish dollars on a delicious butter pecan milkshake, 3 Vegatable/Fruit tray, and kids meal of popcorn chicken and tots, and Myrtle Burger with seasoned curly fries. The kids meal was for my son, and my wide and I would share the Myrtle Burger meal for dinner, but that vegetable/fruit tray was surprisingly filling with that milkshake! It was delicious too!! Sides of tropical fruit, pickled beets, and mashed potatoes was all it took! The Myrtle Burger and fries were A+ cooked and prepared to perfection! Also, what a great staff here! Servers Lacey, Riley, and Christina were so helpful, informative, and worked hard to get my order in a timely fashion, and the cooks, Traci and Sherry, were two of the nicest and helpful people, as well. The entire staff including those behind the scenes not named were all wonderful! This will definitely be a place I return to often! I can't wait to try the catfish, and I just know my son is going to love the milkshakes as much as I do! He loved the popcorn chicken and tots! Thank you, Jefferson Soda Fountain!! Hopefully people will come in droves and experience this one-of-a kind southern cooking and walk away happy like I did!

Today, I went to The Jefferson Fountain to visit with friends. I got a chocolate malt. Yes, it was tasty. The waitress, who made it, told me that she had worked for two years at Baskin-Robbins. She knew what she was doing.
