Libby's is such a gem! A local friend suggested I stop by because he grew up coming here for the Italian ice, and I’m so glad I did. The Italian ice is amazing and different from regular ice cream—it’s made without milk, so you get a really fresh, natural fruit taste that is so good. I also tried some cookies which were delicious. The prices are not expensive at all, especially for such an authentic, nostalgic spot. Definitely a 5-star experience!

Libby’s is one of the best spots to grab dessert in New Haven. Located conveniently near the city’s iconic pizza destinations like Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana and Sally's Apizza, it’s the perfect place to stop after a meal. Libby's Italian Pastry Shop is especially known for its cannolis and rotating seasonal specialties, both of which are must-tries.

Unfortunately it was a disappointment. I was expecting authentic Italian pastry flavors. But instead the filings were more like a thick, bland custard that looked like refried beans (chocolate cannoli), the chocolate lemon pie flavors were just not right and too much lemon filling and the lobster tail filling was also off, it had a lemony flavor. All desserts expensive for what they were. Drinks (cappuccino) were good.

This is a place my grandma and grandpa would come to back in the day and I can agree with them that the Italian ice is worth it. Great texture, decent servings, the way it should be. We were also attended to pretty quickly and were able to get in and out in under or around 10 minutes.
