The Story
Stepping inside, the aroma of waffle cones and old-fashioned delights instantly whisked you back to simpler times. Sunlight streamed through the windows, glinting off checkerboard floors as families gathered for a sweet break from the Carolina sun. Each scoop of creamy ice cream felt like a little taste of summer, making every visit a cherished memory.

10/10! We stopped here on a busy evening, and it was absolutely worth the wait! The staff was friendly and kept things moving despite the long line. The ice cream was delicious, with so many flavors to choose from, plus specialty desserts and a huge variety of toppings and mix-ins. There’s something for everyone! If you’re on a beach vacation, this is definitely a must-stop for a sweet treat. Highly recommend🍨💕🤤

Went there while we were on vacation, recently. Huge selection of flavors. Every night was packed with people of all ages. Wait time can be an issue. Our Grandson has dairy allergy but was able to accommodate him with a non-dairy treat. No inside sit down area at all. Most people walked or drove away after getting their ice cream. Parking lot and side street was also where people stood around to eat their ice cream. After supper time real popular and one needs to be careful with moving traffic on main road. Pet friendly.

Annually, we rent a vacation home within walking distance of this absolute gem. We have been coming here for a number of years, and it is easily our favorite spot among some very stiff local competition. They have an incredible selection of flavors, and the staff is consistently wonderful. You can tell just how popular this place is by the line stretching outside the window every single night. The process is simple: place your order at the first window, then step down to the side window to wait for your name to be called. While it can sometimes be difficult to find a place to sit, and the flies in the outdoor area can be a bit annoying at times, none of that will ever stop us from coming back. It’s a must-visit for anyone in the area! **Key Highlights of Lil & John's Sweetreat:** * **Exceptional Quality:** Homemade ice cream that consistently outperforms other shops in the area. * **Extensive Variety:** A massive selection of flavors and specialties that keeps us coming back year after year. * **Efficient Service:** Despite the long lines that form in the evenings, the staff works quickly and handles the crowds with a great attitude. * **Family Tradition:** It has become a staple of our annual beach vacation. * **Atmosphere:** A lively, popular spot that feels like a true local institution.

We visited this sweet homemade ice cream institution while seeing the beach this summer and were amazed. The staff is so friendly and nice, very helpful with anything needed! The ice cream is what dreams are made of, nice and soft but hard enough to stay together until finished. It’s so hard to find family owned/run businesses anymore and am always excited to try them when I come across them. You pull up and order at the front window then there is seating on the side of the building in the shade to enjoy your sweet treat! It is definitely worth the trip and wait in line as the lines are fairly long in summer.
