The Story

Brownsville's courthouse square keeps its rhythm around Livingston's, where the fountain and the grill share the same worn counter. Farmers, lawyers and school kids all rotate through the same stools.

Stopped in here on a Saturday morning. Super cute decor. Takes you back in time. Great decor. Cool soda fountain. Loved the fried mushrooms. (Light batter). Ordered the Nashville hot chicken with fries. (Not bad -not quite Nashville hot). We did order a cocktail a piece. The grandarita was small but quite tasty. (Just enough). We enjoyed the fries as well. Servers were friendly. Great spot -worth the stop.

We were traveling through Brownsville and came here because we wanted a fix of classic American food, but with better quality than fast food. Livingston's Soda Fountain & Grill delivered with a nice side of nostalgia. We started with an appetizer of Cheese Sticks. We then followed that up with some burgers. I got the Livingston's Burger, which was delicious, while my brother got the Ole Tyme Burger. And as if the burgers weren't enough, these burgers were served with a mountain of delicious fresh-cut fries. But the best part of our meal was at the end, when we were convinced to get two milkshakes, one for each of us. And I'm glad we did, as these were the most delicious milkshakes we had in quite a while, and I was sipping on mine all the way back to our hotel. In short, if you find yourselves traveling through Brownsville and have the time for a proper meal, I strongly recommend you take the detour away from the Interstate to stop at Livingston's Soda Fountain & Grill, and don't forget dessert, because it is the best part here. And if we find ourselves traveling through Brownsville around lunch or dinner time again, we will definitely come back to Livingston's Soda Fountain & Grill again.

It’s a nice place with a lot of local history. Yes, they still have a soda fountain. They have a lot of people working, and the service is excellent. The food is very good, and it’s not cheap. I the French Toast, which was good but overpriced. I don’t like paying $14 for two slices of bread and fruit. The bread was the normal slice, not even the large slices. My friends had hamburgers, and they said they were good. There isn’t a parking lot. You park on the street. The place is very busy after church.
