Talk about a taste test of home! These two gals are from Chicago. So are we. So finding a sandwich spot that reminds us of that is great. We come here quite often. Love the Goonies (it’s their Italian sandwich. I tried their meatball sandwich the Rocky and it was great. Good conversation and good food. Oh! Also chili is dynamite. Oh, also, Ice cream!

This past weekend I visited on a day hotter than a frying pan, stumbling into Neon Cow Creamery. I was ready to faint, but instead, I ended up in sub sandwich heaven. I ordered two subs so good I considered writing them a thank-you note. I tried some of their sugar free ice cream. OMG, the sugar-free ice cream? So good I started a conspiracy theory in my head that it’s secretly full sugar. I saw Anna, the owner, behind the counter making subs like some kind of sandwich wizard and treating everybody like they had been coming there for 20 years. I’m not sure what kind of magic is happening behind the counter, but I checked for a wand, a spell book, and at least one overworked sandwich elf hiding under the counter. Nothing. At this point, I can only assume she has unlocked a secret level of sub-making that science has not yet explained… And somehow, it was all super affordable. Like, I got to the end and had that moment where you look at the total twice because you’re not sure if you heard it correctly. Full meal, good food, good service, and I didn’t have to financially recover afterward. That alone deserves a round of applause. If you want to beat the heat, experience a bit of magic in Hampshire, and eat like royalty on a budget, Neon Cow is the place!

This was my first time here and am sorry it took me so long. I ordered the ‘Don’ and it was the ‘Don’. They say it’s the most popular and I can see why. The sandwich was built perfectly and delicious. There was a nice amount of meat and dressings along with how can you go wrong with fresh Turano bread. It’s a fun sandwich/ice cream shop with a bit of a nostalgia theme. They also carry ‘Dirty Chips’ which are a great accompaniment to their sangwiches. I am already looking forward to my next visit.

What a wild store in downtown Hampshire. I got a classic Chicago sub. It was okay, could have had more fixings for the price. The star here is the decor, the 80s theme is masterfully executed. Walking around and staying at the walls was a trip back to my childhood. Will definitely check them out again and try other items on the menu
