  This has always been one of my favorite places to visit when coming back home to Ohio. We probably come here a little too much (multiple times a week for our large family of 7)! Favorite flavor? Root beer! Service has always been stellar by the young men and women who work here. I highly recommend it on nights only they are working. Tonight, however, was the first time we have seen and been served by the owner, Michele. First, starting by openly complaining about the gentlemen in front of us who knew what he wanted, ordered it, gave her the exact cash amount and went to the pickup line. He made no negative comment, but Michele said “well it isn’t gonna make your order get done any faster”. My husband and I looked at each other and thought that was odd. When it came to our turn, we asked for two samples for our kiddos, she then slammed the window at us. I thought maybe it was just her being quick. Not the case—she was annoyed we asked. Unfortunately, there was a new flavor I had never tasted and I wanted to try it before I ordered, so I asked for a sample upon her return. She said nothing, slammed the window at us once more, and got the sample. Upon her handing me my sample, I apologized and thanked her for the sample. My husband then quietly and politely asked if we had done something wrong because Michele’s demeanor was off and Michele said, “Yes. Samples aren’t for customers when there is a line of 20 people behind them.” (There weren’t 20 people behind us and we were not the hold up. As soon as we got to the window we placed some orders for family members before others needed samples.) We then asked to cancel our order and turned to walk away with our children. She said nothing and didn’t apologize. I am heart broken to know that one of my favorite stops is run by a woman who is not nice to repeat customers. Not sure I feel right about returning anymore. Sadly, other reviews on Facebook have said the same thing about requesting a sample when the owner, Michele, is taking orders at the window. It would go such a long way if there was more love and patience shown, and if a line of multiple customers were looked at as the best method of advertising they could ask for—especially on a busy street like 44. I understand someone abusing “sampling”, but when it’s long time customers asking to taste a new flavor of what could be their new favorite flavor? Shouldn’t a business owner be happy to oblige knowing the potential sales in the future? If you’re having a bad day and need a break, it’s ok to take one to avoid an unexpected negative situation like this one. Side note: We have loved this place so much over the years that we’ve given gift cards to other families and have a local artist’s painting of their #44 location in our home. Too many memories to count. It’s more than just an ice cream shop to us and tonight’s experience left us hurt and sick to our stomachs that we, as customers, are not loved in return.

  our fav local ice cream shop— doesn’t matter if you’re talking about taste or portion size, we’re never disappointed. absolutely divine 🤤

  Nice outdoor tables. Ice cream tastes okay. Just too big for me even ordered small size.

  Amazing ice cream at a great price. I got a medium butterscotch and vanilla cone and a small butter pecan cone for only $11. The wait to order and get the cones was very short. You order at one window and pick it up at another window. The people working were very freindly. It was a little bit of a drive to get there, but it was worth it.
