The Story
Apalachicola's Old Time Soda Fountain runs out of a building that has served the oyster town for over a century. Order a shake and eat it on the bench outside while the shrimp boats work.

I love stopping here! Amazing ice cream, wonderful service, and cool trinkets! Can’t beat the prices either, especially at a small town tourist stop. I highly recommend stopping and getting yourself a milkshake 🫶

Great old fashioned soda fountain/ice cream shop/souvenir store! They have it all! The banana split was amazing as well as the iced coffee!! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They had shells, shark teeth, books, hats, t shirts, ice cream, candy and many others products for sale. Very cool place and a must go to in Apalachicola! Florida Man Approved!

Old Time Soda Fountain – Apalachicola, FL Located in a 1905 building with fixtures and a countertop dating back to the early 1960s, Old Time Soda Fountain is one of those spots that hasn’t changed much in decades — and that’s part of the charm. It’s a Blue Bell ice cream shop that normally serves sodas, floats, and malts from a classic fountain setup. When we visited, they weren’t serving anything from the soda fountain due to the local water issue. Still, we ordered a chocolate and coffee malted, and it was excellent — creamy, rich, and immediately familiar. It reminded me of the kind of treat I’d get with my grandfather at a neighborhood candy store or luncheonette growing up. Inside, the shop is a mix of ice cream counter, candy store, and gift shop. They sell shell collections, coconut patties, Florida-themed candy boxes, dog treats, and tourist Aplachicola T-shirts ($28 each). It’s a quick, fun stop that gives you a glimpse of old-school small-town Florida. No frills — just good ice cream and a little nostalgia.
