The Story

The Purple Penguin stocks the candy you remember and the sodas that went with it, which makes it a dangerous stop with kids in the car.

Don't sleep on this amazing candy store that has anything and everything a sweet-tooth would desire. The staff know all about candys, chocolates and taffys, they attend candy expos and stay up to date on all the ins and outs of the candy world, so you know if they don't got it, they will find it, or it's not to be found. You can drop in for a quick pit stop, but if you have some time, stop in and really che k the place out. There's more than meets the eye amd so much that you want to meet your taste buds!

Yesterday, a friend and I visited the store for the second time because our first experience was so enjoyable. It always feels great to support local businesses, and this visit definitely did not disappoint. The selection of candy and other unique items was incredibly impressive. There were plenty of classic candies I recognized, along with many new brands I'd never seen before. They also offer a variety of fun gift items, making it more than just a candy store. What I enjoy most isn't only the candy—it's the overall atmosphere. The store has a charming, nostalgic aesthetic that makes you feel like you've stepped into a classic candy shop from decades ago. It's warm, inviting, and a pleasure to browse. Overall, this place is an easy 5 out of 5 stars. I highly recommend stopping by, taking a look around, and making a purchase. Supporting a wonderful local business like this is well worth it.

Don't let the 22nd street construction prevent you from going here. This is the coolest sweets shop in Tucson...or anywhere really. As a dorky Gen Xer the retro stuff is amazing. Lots of delights from times past. Pop in, support this local treasure and feel like a kid in a candy store. So to speak.
