The Story
Off I-70 in western Kansas, Ray's keeps a small counter where travelers and locals order malts under fluorescent light. It is unpretentious to the point of poetry.

Cruising along Interstate 70 and saw a billboard at the last second advertising a real old fashioned soda shop, we pulled off to take a look. Such a great little town. We had room to park our truck and fifth wheel right out front. The kids had no idea what was going on and almost decided to just stay in the car. Once I mentioned ice cream, it was on. Walking in you are taken back by the magnificent soda counter built many years ago. I went old school and had a chocolate soda with chocolate ice cream. The lady working the count was so nice and took such pride in creating the deserts. The rest of the family tried other ice cream concoctions as well. Everything was delicious. We walked around the store and found other items that we had to have. This is such a great place to stop. Give them a try, you will not be disappointed.

Great experience to share with my young daughter. We had special soda drinks you can't find nowadays and they were delicious. Unique flavors and friendly service. The nostalgic vibe was awesome; Will be a pitstop whenever we come this way!

Soda fountain built in 1904. Outstanding place to visit. The ice cream floats are delicious. Must try the scones. The pharmacy and gift shop general store has a little bit of everything including plumbing and electrical supplies, clothing, prescriptions filled, medical equipment too.
