The Story

The screen door clapped softly behind you, ushering in the sweet, comforting scent of fresh-churned ice cream and nostalgia. Inside, the bright retro parlor hummed with happy chatter as folks savored generous scoops and thick, frosty malts. It’s a true slice of Wisconsin charm, where every treat feels like a little taste of simpler times.

I visited Sassy Cow Creamery during my travels through Wisconsin. I stopped in for lunch and some ice cream. I had the triple grilled cheese with tomato basil soup which was delicious. They also give complimentary milk with your meal and you can select from a variety of flavors. I'm not a milk drinker, but tried the chocolate milk which was delicious! The ice cream portions are generous and a great value! I wanted to try so many flavors, but ended up getting the Huckleberry and the Salted Caramel Brownie which were both delicious. I sat inside for lunch and then enjoyed my ice cream outside. They had a few goats and cows you could visit which was nice. I'm so glad I stopped in and would highly recommend a visit if you're in the area. They also sell cheese, ice cream in cartons, milk and a few other things.

The ice cream here was really good. I tried the chocolate malt and cuppucino crunch flavors. There's a gift shop with cow themed merch (crewnecks, t shirts, hoodies, Squishies, plush, postcards, cow design air fresheners and more) and a selection of dairy like cheeses. The cow shaped squishes were only $3 or $4 and a nice souvenir. I like the decorations inside, they have a display of milk bottles on the higher shelves. There were two cows outside, we weren't expecting to have the animals yet for visitors since it was still cooler temperatures so when we heard some cow sounds we thought it could have been sound effects they set up for entertainment, but then decided to check to see what's outside and saw two baby (or young) cows. They are friendly and liked to lick and chew my shorts.

Absolutely our favorite, and worth the trek. All of the ice cream is phenomenal, and really reasonably priced. The variety of local cheeses is great, and we love the playground and visiting the calves and goats.

So delicious! Lots of great flavors to choose from. Seriously great value. Idyllic Wisconsin setting. The baby cows were so friendly!
