I really loved this place, mostly for the aesthetics. I have done a lot of restaurant reviews, and to me, the difference between a 4 and a 5 in most cases is originality. This place is original. The inside is made out to be like the 50's or 60's as you can see by the set up and decorations. I didn't notice any food besides ice cream, but they also make milkshakes and floats. Judging by the name, the floats seem signature to the ice cream shop. Not many places base their ice cream shops off floats, so I found this to be unique. They have several different sodas and root beer to make floats and they will use the ice cream of your choice. They also sell various candies, some options of which I have not seen before. Others have mentioned on here that it is pricey. I am willing to pay for the aesthetics and originality, and although I am not a native to Rising Sun, I have been told similar places might be cheaper but also a drive away, essentially costing gas money that makes up the difference for being "cheaper." In a nutshell, it really doesn't cost that much more. For locals, it's great. I get that this place meets a specific niche and it's not for everyone, but I like the originality and the ice cream tasted well enough for me.

The ice cream was okay. Certainly the Zanzibar was about the most chocolatey chocolate I have ever had. I thought the other flavors (peach and cherry) were a little mild. I found I wished it had more flavor. (I managed a homemade ice cream shop for 8 years, so I guess I know a thing or two about ice cream). The service was a little slow and disorganized. Otherwise it's a cool place with a fun vibe and a fascinating menu. The owner seemed nice and knowledgeable. I did try to take my dad at noon on a Tuesday in May. The sign and website said they open at noon. I waited around 10 minutes and no one came to open the store. So they lost a sale that day.
