The Story

Sweetwaters at Landalls welcomes you with a cozy, nostalgic glow and the sweet promise of simpler times. Inside, every spoonful of their delightful treats feels like a little slice of yesteryear, perfectly crafted to bring a smile. It's a charming stop where the friendly spirit of Americana fills the air as surely as the delicious aroma of their confections.

I have visited this place twice and I was impressed both times. Most of the photos on Google maps didn’t do justice to show the neat and unique types of decorations inside. When I arrived on my first visit I just had to stand there and take all of the decorations in for a few minutes and enjoy the the setting. I ordered coffee the first time and ice cream the second. I will be back for a meal next time. The workers were great, prices were reasonable, and the location was very clean too.

Just what I expected :) friendly staff and delicious food in a casual, welcoming environment. The Italian soda was creamy and so delish. My potato soup and half chicken salad sandwich were so filling I didn’t have room for their homemade ice cream, so I’ll have to start with that next time. The turkey panini was perfectly crispy and melty, with tasty green chile adding the right amount of heat. The tomato soup came with little grilled cheese croutons that were as tasty as they were adorable! The Portales Legacy tasted like my college days in the 90s and so I got two more to take back home to my mom and fiancé so they can taste the goodness themselves.

My new favorite place to eat in Portales. The staff is great and the food is delicious. The coffee is coffee. They have homemade ice cream that is great. They also have bread bowls, something which is hard to get here in this area.

We came in at 7, which, according to Google is closing time but I am typing this at 7:30 And it is still open (according to the sign) so I have no idea. Anyway, we went in and got ice cream and the cashier was very rude. She took our order and then went to do something else. When she turned back to the register, she grabbed my receipt and threw it away. I told her I need it and her response was "don't worry about it". I told her that I need it again and she got it out of the trash can and threw it towards me and then walked away. The lady getting our ice cream was very pleasant and I had no problems with her. Overall, it was good ice cream for not a bad price. The place was clean but the cashier needs to check her attitude.
