My family came here for dessert after having a wonderful dinner at Mandabees just down the street while visiting the New River Gorge area. We were pleasantly surprised to find that The Frozen Barn serves Ashby’s ice cream, which is one of the best ice cream brands in our opinion, and originated in our home state of Michigan! We didn’t expect to find it in West Virginia! They also serve Chocolate Shoppe ice cream, which is also very good. While the variety of flavors offered is somewhat limited (I would have liked more chocolatety options), we were able to find flavors we liked (I ordered chocolate and amaretto cherry), and the ice cream was rich, creamy, and delicious. We loved the generous scoop sizes! The decor was also very cute both inside and outside the shop, and the service was friendly and efficient. A major added bonus was that the person who made my cone stuffed the ice cream all the way to the bottom of the cone! Someone else in my group noticed that with their cone too. We have NEVER seen that before with hard ice cream, and we have eaten a LOT of ice cream in our lives. Usually, servers just sit the ice cream on top of the cone, and don’t stuff it down very far into the cone, if at all. It may sound silly, but it was such a classy touch, and really showed how this place goes the extra mile for customers. We really appreciated the extra effort (and the extra ice cream)! We are so glad we found a great place to have ice cream to end a lovely day in New River Gorge!

This was a great little ice cream shop! I came here on a trip to West Virginia, on one of their training days. All of the workers were so nice, and I loved the ice cream that I got. The rest of my family also loved the ice cream they got, and this store had a very wide selection of both ice cream flavours and toppings. They even had pup cups (small cups of whipped cream) for our dogs.

Super cute place with friendly staff. As soon as you walk in you can smell the fresh waffle cones. I loved that they have several ice cream options! I really enjoyed that they had oat options as well! My husband got a milkshake, I got a single surviving in a cup and a pint to go! Hope to venture back soon!

This ice cream 🍨 shop is very delicious and the staff are super friendly. I tried the peanut butter chocolate cookie dough and the other flavor that was based on Elvis (it was banana, Peanut butter, and chocolate chips). Both were very creamy and fabulous. Also tried the vanilla waffle cone and it was so tasty.
