Yesterday we stopped into the newly opened eatery, James Pharmacy, in Old Saybrook., CT. What a delightful place! We shared “the Bennie”, a wonderful sandwich (warmed wagyu flat iron roast beef horseradish, romaine , tomato provolone on ciabatta) and a root beer float (so yummy). What’s really great about the place is their full service butcher shop exists alongside their ice cream parlor (all flavors made in house), deli sandwiches and pre-made meals and salads in a beautiful, restored space (it was a pharmacy for 50 years that was run by Anna Louise James, the 1st African - american woman pharmacist in CT, 1790). This establishment has an authentic old world feel. We felt like we took a step back in time… It was clean, bright, and tastefully decorated. The staff were all terrific and the food was delicious! Go— you will not be disappointed!

They recently reopened. Visited over July 4th, they have delicious ice cream, amazing proteins and lots of kitchen accessories like Japanese Knives and condiments. Next time will try their sandwiches. Great addition to Old Saybrook and a real chef is behind the food.

Kinda over priced sandwich was 20 bucks tons of meat they forgot the cheese and kimchi 4 slices of bacon 12.50 crazy my bill was 50$ for 4 items. The lay out was kinda confusing of a set up. the parking lot sucks like most of Saybrook

Just stopped by for dessert, it has a charming atmosphere and great location. Friendly and helpful attendant in the ice cream window, and the burnt sugar flavor was phenomenal.
