The Story
The screen door creaked a welcome, promising sweet relief from the summer sun with every cheerful clatter. Generous scoops of creamy goodness and overflowing sundaes were handed out through the window, a timeless treat for any dusty traveler. It’s a classic stop where simple pleasures like a frosty malt and good company make for perfect memories.

Wait was 10 minutes to order but quick once we ordered. Less than 5 minutes for 1 malt. The malt was filled with chunks of ice. Hot Fudge malt had very little flavor. Worst part was the spoon when we pulled it up had a chip out of the end. Had we eaten this on location we would have taken it back. Kind of disappointing. Bridgemans malts are far better.

I had a very disappointing experience at Portland Malt Shoppe. The service was by far the worst part of the visit. The employee who took my order was incredibly rude from the beginning. She made my order incorrectly, and when I politely pointed it out, instead of fixing it or apologizing, she insisted that I was wrong and continued speaking to me disrespectfully. After that, I waited about 20 minutes for my order. When I asked how much longer it would be, she abruptly told me she was busy and that I needed to wait. To make matters worse, another employee started laughing while this was happening, which made the situation feel even more unprofessional and disrespectful. When I finally received my order, I was handed what was essentially only half a cup of malt. After the long wait and poor customer service, it was incredibly disappointing. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning, and I can’t recommend this shop based on the service I received.

I've always seen this little spot, but it was never open when I was around, so when I saw this open by chance I turned my car around and found a parking spot asap. The employees are helpful and patient. The building is tiny and cute, and the Malts are THICK and delicious! Really, really good!😋 The scenery is beautiful, as behind the shoppe, is Lake Superior, and just to the right of the building is direct access to steps that connect to the Lake walk. So glad I finally got to come here, I'll be back, and I'd say it's definitely a spot to hit if you're visiting the area.🍨
