I mostly have come to the Chubbuck Soda Barn when I'm in the area and to use my GoldPass app perks. I think I've gone through the drive-thru once, maybe twice, because it's easier to redeem GoldPass perks in store so I've been inside a handful of times. Friendly FYI, this review is on the lengthy side. This is most likely the last time I will visit this location due to the consistently poor service I have experienced here. I am not a fan of the Chubbuck Soda Barn because the employees (typically three or four on shift at any given time) at this location often seem bored and disinterested, milling about even when there are customers in both the lobby and drive-thru. Nearly every time I have gone inside, the employees here give priority to drive-thru customers even when the lobby is full. When I came in tonight, I looked at my options from a distance for a few minutes before approaching the counter. There were two or three other customers in the lobby (and likely 3 or 4 cars in the drive-thru). When I approached the counter, an employee who had been sitting around started consolidating product and I waited two or three minutes before she came over to the register so that I could ask a couple of questions and finalize my order. She put my order in and I thought she was started making it because there were 2 or 3 other employees, (not including one who took a break), who seemed to be helping other customers in the lobby who had gotten there before me and/or were covering the drive-thru. Several minutes went by and it turned out one of the other people in the lobby was waiting to pick up a DoorDash order. The Dasher asked the employee that had been on break to help with the order they were waiting on. So that employee goes behind the counter, presumably to work on that order. Then a father and son came in and explained that they had a problem with an order a few days ago; they had called and were told to come back in to have the order remade to make the situation right. The employee who took my order, it turned out, had not been making my order or anyone elses who had come in before me. She and the other employees had all been making other orders until this gentleman came in to have the bad order fixed. So she and another employee start correcting the bad order. While waiting I asked another customer to confirm that they had come into the lobby before I had. She explained that she was also a Dasher hadn't checked in yet. She then walked up to the counter to check in but none of the employees acknowledged her. I had observed that this Dasher was shy and hesitant to ask for help. I stepped up to the counter and pointed out that she had come in before me along with other customers in the lobby. I know I sounded irritated because I was anxious and spoke in a rushed tone to advocate for myself and everyone in the lobby to be served promptly who had also watched the father and son be helped immediately while drive-thru orders were made without delay even though most of the lobby customers had been waiting for over ten minutes. One of the employees claimed that they were making orders in the order that they had been put in. I'm disinclined to believe that claim given that it was not until I stepped up and said they needed to make it right with myself and the other customers who were patiently waiting for service. The Chubbuck location is mostly staffed by high school-age individuals and I am sure the turnover rate is moderate to high because working at a soda shop is a minimum-wage position. That said, in my opinion, an attitude adjustment and training in courtesy and customer service would not hurt most of the Chubbuck staff. It may be harsh, but I do not pre-tip for service I have not received. I have not received service here that I am willing to tip for. I will still frequent the Pocatello 5th Street location because the staff at that location are far more cordial, prompt, and courteous.

I deliver for DoorDash and Uber eats and GrubHub. Every time I come here I’m ignored. There will be three or four teenagers working and they will help every other person before they will even acknowledge that I am there for a pick up. frustrating, as my customers are also important. Even worse, is that customers who order delivery pay a higher price than what people who walk into a restaurant pay. Right there alone is the reason to serve them first.

I love Soda Barn so much! It has great food and great drinks! Sometimes, it does take a while to get food and drinks, but overall I love it so much and would go everyday if I could!

High school staffers struggle taking orders over the intercom every time. They get the orders wrong almost every time, too- wrong size, wrong flavor, or wrong soda. The ice situation is inconsistent with ice overwhelming the soda or melting before the first sip. Customer service/interpersonal skills at the window is hit or miss. We did the Reading Log with our daughter for the Wall of Fame- to completion- but they couldn’t get her photo added to the board (either time we went) because the camera wasn’t working/they were out of film. It was a big bummer for her after working so hard to read so many books. I was excited for that challenge and very bummed with the execution.
