The Story

The sweet scent of spun sugar and old-fashioned charm spills onto the street from the colorful parlor. Inside, bins overflow with every flavor of chewy taffy, each one a little bite of sugary joy. It's a delightful step back in time, where simple pleasures make the heart feel warm.

The shop was so cool and the workers were very helpful! 91 years of taffy made in Estes park was great! Had Lemon, Peach and Grape. Definitely come back!

If you’re visiting Estes Park, a stop at The Taffy Shop is a must. Located on busy Elkhorn Avenue in downtown Estes Park, this is the original taffy shop and one of the best places to experience authentic Estes Park saltwater taffy. The shop has been making taffy using its traditional recipe for decades, and watching the taffy being made right in the store is an unforgettable experience. The staff is incredibly friendly, welcoming everyone with a smile and giving each customer their full attention. They offer a fantastic selection of flavors, and the quality of the taffy is outstanding. Seeing the classic taffy-making process in action adds a special touch that makes this shop stand out from the rest. This charming little shop is one of Estes Park’s most beloved traditions, and it’s easy to see why. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a longtime fan, I highly recommend taking the time to stop in, watch the taffy being made, and pick up a box (or two) to enjoy later. An amazing place that shouldn’t be missed!

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid—and so has my mom! This place has been handcrafting salt water taffy since 1935, and it’s a true local treasure. The taffy is delicious and made the old-fashioned way, without all the preservatives you find in mass-produced candy. That means it’s best enjoyed fresh—buy enough to last about a week or so. As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm smile and a free piece of taffy—pick your favorite! (Mine is the salted caramel.) The shop has a cozy, nostalgic charm, and you can even watch the taffy machines in action. Just be sure to make room—it’s a popular stop, and everyone wants a taste of tradition!

We loved the taffy that we bought here. We also found the lady at the counter to be great, she was super patient and answered all our taffy questions. We brought our box back to Canada to share. :)
