  Dangit it lived up to the hype. I wanted to try it once and be like “overrated” but unfortunately it’s everything it’s talked to be. Ordering is laid out simply on the big board - however it’s still overwhelming. I feel like I created the perfect order. Sugar free Guava, sugar free Pineapple, sugar free Strawberry on Haupia (coconut) ice cream. The snow cap is unnecessary if you order ice cream under it. The sugar free flavors didn’t taste sugar free, they tasted real and had the perfect amount of tart to them. The first time I got the local motion (li hing mui, mango and pineapple - which was delicious but I wanted to peel back the sweet and the hing mui li was a kinda salty flavor. Then tried the Haleakala. It’s very light and so delicious. Ended with my Sugar free combo over coconut ice cream and I was so pleased with my final order and got it every time after. If you like ordering mango sticky rice after a sushi meal - you must order the cup. Everyone in our group enjoyed it thoroughly

  This is a really nice location with plenty of parking, which is always a plus. It's mainly a "walk-up window" style setup where you order and then wait around to pick up your shave ice. The shave ice itself was incredibly smooth and finely shaved. However, a few details felt a bit lacking: Even after paying extra for a snow cap, they barely added any of the topping. Additionally, the shave ice could have used a bit more syrup. While they do have a sign saying you can return to the window for extra syrup, nobody actually wants to squeeze back up to the front when there is already a many people waiting. They play great, upbeat music over a loudspeaker for the vibe, but because the music is loud and you have to pick up from the window, it's really hard to hear when they call out names. Everyone ends up crowding around the window, constantly double-checking if their order was the one called. There are very few tables available compared to the crowd of people ordering, so they could definitely stand to add a few more seats. Overall, the quality of the shave ice texture is excellent, but the experience would be much better with a smoother pickup process, better portioning on premium toppings, and a few more spots to sit and enjoy!

  After a warm afternoon of adventuring and exploring, my husband and I made our way to Ululani’s Hawaiian Shave Ice for a nice little afternoon treat. The line was quite long, but it moved fairly quickly. There were so many different combinations of flavors and toppings that you can truly make your own creation. I decided to try the Sunset Beach, which was passion orange, guava, and mango. It was light and refreshing and definitely hit the spot. I appreciate that they will give you more syrup if you find any white patches of ice, which we did. A must try if you are in Maui!

  Ululani is a big name in shaved ice and it didn’t disappoint. I’ve had shaved ice at other spots but I found the taste to be better here than anywhere else. They take pride in coverage of ice with syrup and offer to refill if they miss a spot. There was a long line on new year’s day and we got just in time. It took almost an hour before we reached the window. We got lava flow with roselina macadamia nut ice-cream and dragon fruit /guava/passionfruit with vanilla ice-cream. The syrup was really tasty and they got the full ice covered. The ice was noticeably shaved finer than anywhere else. I have commend on the quality of the icecream too - it was rich, creamy and smooth. It was a delight to come here and spend our evening.
