In my opinion, Vanderwende Ice Cream is one of the best places to get ice cream in Sussex County . Their homemade, farm-fresh ice cream is always rich, creamy, and consistently delicious. The Greenwood location is one of my favorites. It’s smaller than some of their other locations, which means it’s usually less crowded and much easier to get in and out. There’s plenty of parking, and they even have a playground, making it a great stop for families with kids. If you’re looking for amazing ice cream in a relaxed setting, I highly recommend stopping by Vanderwende. It’s definitely worth the trip!

Found a slice of dairy heaven. 🍦✨ Homemade ice cream, sunshine, and endless flavors to choose from. The quality (and the portion size!) absolutely exceeded my expectations. There’s nothing like a sunny afternoon treat in a beautiful setting. 10/10 recommend.

If you’re looking for ice cream that’s worth every calorie, Vanderwende’s is a must-stop. The ice cream is unbelievably rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. I ordered the chocolate ice cream in a waffle cone, and the scoops were huge, definitely generous portions! Every bite tasted fresh and homemade, with that smooth texture that only comes from quality ingredients. The waffle cone was the perfect addition, crisp and fresh, and paired perfectly with the decadent chocolate ice cream. It’s easy to see why so many people consider Vanderwende’s a Delaware favorite. Their ice cream is made fresh from their family dairy farm, which really shows in the quality and flavor. The atmosphere was welcoming and family friendly, making it a great place to sit, relax, and enjoy a treat. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this is one of those places that keeps you coming back for “just one more scoop.” Highly recommend next time I’ll probably be taking home a pint because one visit definitely isn’t enough! 🍦❤️

Extremely generous with their ice cream portion sizes and well priced, even "one scoop" was tough to finish! The peach ice cream was delicious. Unfortunately less than ideal service. There was an older man in line who needed to use the ONE restroom which seemed to lock itself shut with nobody inside. When another customer asked if the door to the restroom could be unlocked, one staff member responded "we don't have time for that right now." After a while it did get unlocked, but the restroom getting locked happened to me too and I decided to just leave.
