    Willard Scoops is hands down the best ice cream I’ve ever had. I grew up in Boston, and my first job was scooping at JP Licks. I’ve lived and traveled in many places, and I’m always on the lookout for good ice cream. Nothing comes close to this little shop. No matter the flavor, the texture of their ice cream is sublime. Super creamy and velvety, but nice and firm the way hard ice cream should be. Their flavors are all well thought out and perfectly executed. Their chocolate is dark and rich. They often have multiple coffee flavors using different roasts, some dark roast and some bold and bright. Salt caramel is a signature flavor, and nobody does it better. I still can’t decide which berry flavor I like best- they’re all bursting with fresh berry flavor, and actually taste like the berry they’re named for. My favorite is whichever one I’m eating at the moment. Then there are the more usual flavors- bacon and chocolate, key lime pie, maple latte, and sunburn (strawberry habañero), all of which might sound like gimmicks until you try them and realize they’re genius. My very favorite is probably mint leaf chip, which has real mint leaves and fine chocolate bits, giving it a lovely fresh mint flavor and a nice crunch in the mouth. Finally the service is impeccable. Everyone who works there, from the owner to the teenagers who are working their first summer job are incredibly friendly and helpful. Are they more expensive than some other local frozen treat purveyors? Yes, just like a Michelin starred restaurant is more expensive than a diner. But where a fancy restaurant is out of reach for most people, Willard Scoops delivers a superlative product for just a few dollars more. Life is too short to eat bland, overly-sweetened ice cream that’s loaded with artificial ingredients and stabilizers. You deserve better. You deserve Willard Scoops!

    LOVELY staff and flavors! I love a local ice cream shop and it was my first time in Maine so I had to hunt one out… all ice cream is made in house! Honey I Love You was sooooo good… I sampled a few other flavors and they were all outstanding.

    Searching for ice cream, and this place came up as the one with the best reviews in the area. And with good reason! Best ice cream I've had in awhile, and homemade! They have interesting flavors like Sunburn, which is strawberry with habanero, and Honey I Luv You, which has honey and olive oil in it. I tried the chocolate sea salt and the peanut butter fluff, and I was in heaven! So creamy and bursting with flavor. I wish I lived near here! Except maybe not, my figure would SUFFER.
