The Story
The Wilton Candy Kitchen has been serving eastern Iowa since 1860, run for decades by George Nopoulos, who married a girl he met over the counter and kept the shop essentially frozen in 1930. The back bar, the booths and the recipes are all original.

We stopped by on our way through eastern Iowa to look through their cool museum packed with local history. The owners were working when we stopped in. The gentleman was dressed in a bowtie and took the time to share some history with us. It also looks like the local coffee club meets there in the morning, at least on the Friday we went. Their menu is mostly focused on drinks, ice cream, and a few sandwiches, but we just looked around and did not purchase anything this time due to the morning hour. Trying some fun drinks or ice cream is on the bucket list for next time.

What an amazing location… The staff are super friendly and treat you like family and it’s as if you are stepping back 100 years in time… Absolutely worth checking out and prices were very reasonable also

My family is on vacation and I thought we should get a treat. Red river soda was great. Someone got a chocolate malt with Carmel and was awesome. I think one was a green soda float and my wife always gets chocolate ice cream with marshmallow creme.
